JUNE 9, 2014
THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE FINDS US WITH A FANTASTIC LOOKING CORN AND SOYBEAN CROP. WE HAVE BEEN RECEIVING TIMELY RAINS SINCE PLANTING TIME AND ARE ACTUALLY NEEDING A BREAK FROM RAIN SHOWERS SO WE CAN FINISH THE CORN POST SPRAYING AND ALSO FINISH THE SIDE DRESS NITROGEN APPLICATION. THE CORN IS GROWING FAST AND WILL BE DETERMINING EAR SIZE LATER THIS WEEK AND NEXT AND IT LOOKS LIKE WE WILL HAVE IDEAL WEATHER FOR THAT. SOYBEANS ARE COMING ALONG AND COULD USE SOME WARM WEATHER TO SPEED THEIR GROWTH. WE WILL BEGIN SPRAYING SOYBEANS LATER THIS WEEK AND NEXT. THE COMMODITY MARKETS HAVE RESPONDED TO THE IDEAL GROWING CONDITIONS BY FALLING SHARPLY. THIS WILL BE A DIFFICULT TIME MARKETING AS WE ARE CERTAINLY A LONG WAY FROM HARVEST BUT THE CROP CERTAINLY LOOKS AT THIS TIME AS HAVING THE CAPABILITY OF BEING A BIG CROP. BE SAFE AND HAVE A GREAT SUMMER.
