WELCOME TO WENTWORTH FAMILY FARMS!

Wentworth ancestors began farming in Central Illinois in the 1860's.  Today, Wentworth Family Farms continues a proud tradition of providing the latest in crop production, farm management, marketing, and soil stewardship in Central Illinois.  We will provide current updates on the conditions and field operations that are occurring on our Central Illinois farms here on our web site and also on Twitter.  Follow along as the 2014 crop season progresses.

SEPTEMBER 1, 2014

HAPPY LABOR DAY.  WE ARE FORTUNATE TO LIVE IN THE U.S.A.  WHAT A SUMMER IT HAS BEEN WITH BELOW NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND ABOVE NORMAL PRECIPITATION.  LOCAL CROP SURVEYS ARE PROJECTING A 200+ BUSHEL CROP FOR MCLEAN COUNTY ILLINOIS.  SILAGE HARVEST STARTED LAST WEEK AND THOSE YIELDS HAVE BEEN THE BEST EVER.  CONSISITENT PLANT STANDS AND EARS ON EVERY STALK MAKE FOR HIGH YIELDS.  SOYBEANS ARE STARTING TO MATURE WITH SOME DISEASE ISSUES OF WHITE MOLD AND SUDDEN DEATH SYNDROME.  WE HAVE HAD ONE BRAZILIAN FARM TOUR HERE WITH TWO MORE SCHEDULED FOR THIS MONTH.  IT IS ALWAYS FUN TO DISCUSS FARMING WITH FARMERS FROM OTHER COUNTRIES.  HOPE THEY ENJOY THEMSELVES.  THERE HAS BEEN SOME CORN HARVESTED SOUTH OF HERE, IT LOOKS LIKE THREE WEEKS BEFORE WE ARE ABLE TO BEGIN.  HAVE A SAFE HARVEST.
