AUGUST 8, 2015
HARVEST SEASON IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. SILAGE CHOPPING WILL BEGIN IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS AND FIELD CORN HARVEST ABOUT A MONTH AFTER THAT. THE THREE MONTHS OF ABOVE NORMAL RAINFALL HAVE FINALLY ENDED AND WE ARE BEGINNING TO STRESS THE CROP. BOTH THE CORN AND SOYBEANS LOOK GOOD, BUT THE PONDS AND WET AREAS WILL PULL DOWN THE FIELD AVERAGES. SOYBEAN PRICES ARE HANGING AROUND $10 WHILE CORN IS STRUGGLING TO GET BACK TO $4. THE NEXT COUPLE OF YEARS LOOK TO BE CHALLENGING AS INPUT PRICES ARE SLOW TO FOLLOW COMMODITY PRICES DOWN AND RENTS STAY UP. WE MAY LOOK BACK TO OUR 1980'S MANUAL FOR POINTERS ON HOW TO REMAIN PROFITABLE IN THIS CLIMATE. CONTINUE TO FOLLOW US ON TWITTER.
HAVE A SAFE HARVEST!
